Study Abroad with Kinesiology in Summer 2025!!

The Division of Kinesiology is offering three courses abroad this summer.  These courses are open to all majors but please check with your assigned academic success coach to make sure they apply to your degree program.

PET4143 – Current Issues and Trends in Kinesiology with Thomas Fisher

PET4143 is a 3-credit course that addresses some of the changes in diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, patient relationships, establishing rapport, ethics/morals, and developing career options. It allows students to address the different approaches to medical care, paramedical treatments, and athletic communities in Europe as opposed the American approach.

The course also includes academic and experiential learning activities in Barcelona such as visits to Olympic sports museum, Olympic performance training center, physiotherapy rehabilitation center, as well as lecture by sport psychologist. PEM2431 – Beginning Judo with David Fukuda

PEM2431 is a 2-credit course that covers the study and application of basic skills; falling, throwing, ground techniques, basic self-defense, terminology, philosophy and fitness training involved in the Olympic sport of Judo. It allows students to learn a new way and acquire skills to be physically fit, as well as gain understanding of the influence Judo’s inclusion at the Olympic Games, including the introduction of women’s competition at the 1992 Olympiad in Barcelona.

 The course also includes academic and experiential learning activities in Barcelona such as Judo training sessions, social activities with Judo practitioners, guest lecture by Olympian, and visit to Olympic Judo venue. If interested, please email David Fukuda (David.Fukuda@ucf.edu)

 

PEM2104 – Personal Fitness and Wellness with Anna Valdes

PEM2104 is a 3-credit course encompasses basic human physiology, kinesiology, nutrition, health science, and behavior change concepts derived from various academic disciplines, as well as examines health and wellness in the US as compared with that in Costa Rica. It allows students to develop life habits for a successful happy and healthy life.

The course also includes academic and experiential learning activities in Costa Rica such as visit to local parks, recreation, fitness center and sports complexes, as well as guest lecture from local expert on fitness and wellness. If interested, please email Anna Valdes (Anna.Valdes@ucf.edu)
